Three Months

Monkey,
How fast time is flying...you are THREE MONTHS old today! One-fourth of a year! When I was pregnant with you time was creeping by at snail pace, it's funny how your perspective of time changes after you have a baby.  I love getting to spend my days with you, even if you have started giving me a hard time some days. ;)

We have really been able to see you grow and change this month.  You are so much more aware of your company and surroundings, and you definitely have opinions on your likes and dislikes.  And when you dislike something, boy you sure do let us know! I love watching you experience and learn new things...it's amazing how much you are soaking in at such a young age.

You are FULL of smiles these days!  Oh, there is nothing better than to wake up to your smiling face in the morning and getting to see you show off that smile to everyone!  You love your morning time with Mama and give your smiles freely.  Occasionally you will giggle but have yet to let out a real belly laugh.  I know they are just right around the corner. You have discovered your mouth with your right hand and your "special parts" with your left hand.  Mama is just happy you are using two different hands for these discoveries!  Your favorite way to be held is against our bodies with your head laying to the left; you will almost always fall asleep for a minute or two this way.

Your afternoons and early evenings have been a challenge, as you just can't get comfortable.  You fight your naps so hard and get over-tired almost everyday. And by this time your belly is just in knots, only adding fuel to the fire.  I feel so badly for you; watching you squirm and listening to you cry just breaks this mommas heart.  I'm assured that this is just a phase that will pass as quickly as it came.  At least you still enjoy snuggles during this time, and I am stealing all the snuggles I can get!

Your night sleep has truly been amazing.  One night you randomly slept 8 hours and have been increasing the length ever since.  You are hungry every night at 8:30 on the dot. Right before you nurse we do a last diaper change and swaddle you up and you are ready for bed.  I'll rock you for a little while before you fall asleep, or Daddy will if he is home.  You are still sleeping in the Rock-n-Play in our room, right next to Mama's side of the bed.  You wake up between 4-6am to nurse again, then go right back down until 8-8:30am.  It's great!

We finally said goodbye to our newborn clothes...probably a little later than we should of.  I just couldn't get enough of you in those sweet little sleepers! We have an abundance of 0-3 month clothes; I sure hope you can wear all of them before we have to move you up another size!!  You are still in size one diapers and have come to LOVE your diaper changes.  When you are really fussy I will lay you down and change your diaper (even if it's clean!) just to get you to calm down for a moment.

You are still nursing like a champ and we have reached the point where it's "routine."  I'm so glad we stuck through those first two months.  At the time I didn't think nursing was that hard, but now that it really is like second nature to us I see how we struggled a little in the beginning.  You still take your time nursing, but we are down to about 25-30 minutes total, which is great.  I still enjoy nursing you and don't plan to stop anytime soon.

Your reflux seems to be...better.  You get Zantac twice a day and HATE the taste; you make the most awful little face every time!   When I go to refill it I'm going to ask for a flavor so you are less likely to spit it out.  I'm still not convinced this is 100% reflux related as your stomach is just always giving you trouble.  You still toot up a storm and they are stinky as ever!  Your tear duct in your left eye still gives you trouble all the time, but it doesn't seem to bother you in the least.  You hate it when I clean your eye out, but are over it just as soon as it began.

Our lives are so drastically changed from where we were three months ago, and it just couldn't be any better!  We love, LOVE you and the joy you have brought into our lives.  And we can't wait to see how much FUN we are going to have this next month! Football, play group, bible study and library time are all over our calendar...yay! Love you to the moon and back!

I love reading your blog because our little boys are close in age! My little boy is about 3 weeks younger, so I love seeing through your blog what we have to look forward to. It sounds like you guys had a great month!
