Christmas decor

Technically this is our second Christmas in this house, but last year we were winning a state championship, moving and going to Colorado so we barely had time to put a tree up, much less decorate.  So this year I felt the need to go all out with decorations.  Here is a glimpse inside our winter wonderland.

Christmas lights that are still in the bag- not on the house.  Hubby is forgiven, he’s been busy.  :)  Maybe next year.

Merry Christmas 2009

*editors note: this post was actually written yesterday, December 25th, but posted today due to internet connections.  Yes, I do know which day Christmas is.

oh by golly[1]

Many thanks to my friend, Ally, for the wonderful Christmas cards!

STATEBOUND!!!

That’s right ladies and gentlemen.  The Katy Tigers are headed to the big dance for the third year in a row!  Katy would only be the third team in history to win three state championships in a row.  (notice a pattern here with the 3’s?)

This weekend we lined up against the Fighting Unicorns (seriously) from New Braunfels High School.  We played 4 full quarters of football and edged one out 14-6.  Our defense was stellar!

Please keep Mattypoo and the coaches and players in your prayers this week.  Matt does not do well with stress, and I think it would be safe to say that coaching in the state championship in Texas is about as stressful as it gets!  Please pray for endurance, both mentally and physically, for our coaches and players.  Please pray for safe travel for all of the people who will be driving to San Antonio.  Please pray for an injury-free week of practice and game.  And please, please pray for a Katy Tiger victory!

To make this weekend EVEN BETTER Jeff’s Chaparrals from Austin Westlake High School will be playing in the Division I game in San Antonio this weekend too!  Westlake will be playing Euless Trinity at 2pm and our game will be against Abilene at 7pm.  We both play at the Alamodome and we are both on the same side of the stadium.  I can’t tell you how incredibly happy I am to be able to watch both my boys play for a state championship this weekend and it not be against each other!  GO CHAPS!  GO TIGERS!

Last, we just want to stop and smell the roses.  We realize that some coaches can work their entire career and never see a state championship game.  We are very lucky and blessed at Katy to be 25 years old and playing for our 3rd state championship.  Without our hard-working coaches, our dedication of our players and support from our community we would not be here.  Thank you God for blessing our lives.

Oh, the weather outside is frightful…

But the fire is so delightful,

and if there’s no place to go,

let is snow, let it snow, let it SNOW!!

Snow 029

Yes…SNOW!!  IN KATY!!!  I can’t even begin to describe to you how CrAzY school was today with junior high students and snow.  The 7th graders at KJH are located outside in temporary buildings so the students were able to experience the weather between classes.  By 9am KISD had decided to dismiss everyone early to avoid dangerous road and the kids went WILD!  Snow flurried began falling during 1st period and turned to real snow and started sticking to the ground during lunch.  The classes we saw after lunch basically just met outside and played!  What a fun day!

The kids had so much fun; I can’t try to accurately describe their joy.  Maybe the pictures will help.  :)

My little sunshine…

Don’t you just want to eat her up!

I spent last weekend in Midlothian visiting the precious Ella and mommy Emily.  She is such a wonderful, sweet-mannered, adorable little baby!  I just can’t get enough of her!!!

A football update

I haven’t blogged recently, and was reprimanded for only blogging about football, so I’m consolidating all of the recent games into one post.  Here we go!

Bi-District Champs: Katy 49, Stratford 14

Our first playoff game this year was a first for the Tigers, we wore black!  That’s right, your red and white Katy Tigers wore black.  Nike has been trying to get us to try something new for the past 2 seasons but Coach Joseph always stuck with tradition, but for our 11th game at Rhodes in one season he decided we needed something different….BLACK!  It was a big secret, not even the players knew until they were finished warming up at the stadium and came back into the locker room before the game started.  They were thrilled and as you can see, it showed in the score!

Area Champs: Katy 45, Atascocita 7

Our first non-Rhodes game of the year was at our home-away-from-home, Tully Stadium against the Atascocita Eagles from Humble.  It was our first meeting and I think Atascocita hopes it was our last!  We won 45 to 7 and dominated every aspect of the game.  It was cold and rainy so I didn’t get too many photos.  And we went back to our normal red and white!

Regional Semi-Final Champs: Katy 37, LaPorte 3

Our second game at Tully Stadium faced us up against the bulldogs from LaPorte.  Matty was really worried about this one and up until halftime so was I.  But our wonderful coaching staff made the needed adjustments and we came out clicking on all cylinders the second half.  The Tigers were victorious and send the bulldogs packing the second year in a row.

There are possibly 3 weeks left of football so please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we maneuver our way through the post season.  We will be facing Clear Springs this Saturday at Tully so be thinking of us around 1pm.

In other football news the Chaparrals from Austin Westlake, Jeff’s team, is still running in the postseason.  The Chaps have beaten San Antonio Madison, Converse Judson and Harlingen and will face San Antonio Clarke this weekend.  Go Chaps!
