STATEBOUND!!!

That’s right ladies and gentlemen.  The Katy Tigers are headed to the big dance for the third year in a row!  Katy would only be the third team in history to win three state championships in a row.  (notice a pattern here with the 3’s?)

This weekend we lined up against the Fighting Unicorns (seriously) from New Braunfels High School.  We played 4 full quarters of football and edged one out 14-6.  Our defense was stellar!

It was REALLY foggy at the end of the game!

Please keep Mattypoo and the coaches and players in your prayers this week.  Matt does not do well with stress, and I think it would be safe to say that coaching in the state championship in Texas is about as stressful as it gets!  Please pray for endurance, both mentally and physically, for our coaches and players.  Please pray for safe travel for all of the people who will be driving to San Antonio.  Please pray for an injury-free week of practice and game.  And please, please pray for a Katy Tiger victory!

To make this weekend EVEN BETTER Jeff’s Chaparrals from Austin Westlake High School will be playing in the Division I game in San Antonio this weekend too!  Westlake will be playing Euless Trinity at 2pm and our game will be against Abilene at 7pm.  We both play at the Alamodome and we are both on the same side of the stadium.  I can’t tell you how incredibly happy I am to be able to watch both my boys play for a state championship this weekend and it not be against each other!  GO CHAPS!  GO TIGERS!

Last, we just want to stop and smell the roses.  We realize that some coaches can work their entire career and never see a state championship game.  We are very lucky and blessed at Katy to be 25 years old and playing for our 3rd state championship.  Without our hard-working coaches, our dedication of our players and support from our community we would not be here.  Thank you God for blessing our lives.
