Homecoming

I’ve been trying to blog all week because we had a really fun weekend, but someone whose name starts with an M has had my computer at work all week.  I had to threaten him today to actually get it back!
Last weekend was KHS homecoming vs Seven Lakes.  This is always such a fun week for the kids at school and a fun game (and halftime!) to watch.  My kids at the junior high wore mum’s to school on Friday and we had our own pep rally at school.
Thursday our sophomore team that Matt coaches played at SLHS.  I love these games because Matt is actually coaching from the field and not the press box so I can get some decent pictures of him.  I'm really good at taking lots of pictures at the games, but I just wish Matt was actually IN some of them!

Friday was the varsity game and I had so much fun mingling with all my former students.  It was fun seeing them as high school kids and watching them grow into such beautiful young ladies!  Katy won 46-7!

And just for giggles, here is a picture of me and the mister from our very first homecoming, circa 1998.

One year

For anyone reading, I just wanted to ask for extra thoughts and prayers for us today.  One year ago today we said goodbye to our angel baby.  I'm not really sure what else to say except we NEVER thought a year later we would still be here.  And we definitely never thought that 7 rounds of Clomid, 3 surgeries and an IUI later we would still be a family of two.
I have to wonder if I would feel differently if we had gotten pregnant since the miscarriage?  I often think about how much worse the infertility makes our loss.  I am constantly grieving what "could have been" and imaging how our life would look if we were holding our little 5 month old instead of throwing money at our RE.  I'm hurting, but trying to hold my head up through this all and trust.

"We also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, HOPE.  And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us."
-Romans 5: 3-5

Fall TV lineup

*Note- after reading I’m realizing this looks like A LOT of TV.  And truthfully, it is.  Please see husband’s 100+ hour work week and tell me what you would do home alone all these hours.  Thanks.

Words cannot describe how SUPER excited I am for all the fall TV premier’s this week!  Be still, my heart.  I LIVE for a good TV show.  Retirement for me is sitting with a good cup of coffee and a show on DVD that I can sit and immerse myself in all day.  What else is someone who lives with a football coach (who comes home only to sleep) to do?

Without further adieu, here is what’s on tap this fall:

Weekend

We had a busy, but fun weekend (I feel like I will probably say that every weekend until football season is over.)  Friday Mrs. Joseph, Julie and I headed up 71 for Jeff’s game against Pflugerville.  Of course we stopped at our favorite spot, Busy B, on our way there.  I picked up some cute things but will have to wait to share.

71 is back open since the wild fires are almost contained, so we were able to drive through Bastrop on our way to the game and we saw some of the damage.  You know even with your eyes closed you are in Bastrop because the burning smell is so strong.  The ground and trees for miles are just black and burned.  It’s amazing because as you are driving up 71 there are several houses and businesses still standing, not touched by the fire.  You can tell the firefighters saved the houses because everything is burned right up to the house, but there is no damage to the houses.  Amazing.  Way to go firefighters.

I took some pictures on my camera from the car, but we were moving and had the windows rolled up so the quality isn’t the best.

Westlake played at Pfugerville, where they filmed my favorite show, Friday Night Lights.  Look familiar?

I’m telling you, I could feel the presence of Coach Taylor and Tim Riggins in that stadium.    Jeff’s grandfather (who was in episode 1) told me they are about to start replaying the episodes on TV.  Yay!

Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose.

Jeff’s team rolled over Pflugerville 45-14.  Way to go, Coach Joseph!

Saturday my sister and I did some damage at the Heart of Katy craft show.  Brooks went with us and helped me pick out some new necklaces.  And I got the CUTEST Christmas wreath, y’all.  I can’t wait to hang it up in a few months.

Saturday night Katy played Beaumont Westbrook at home and WON 42-7!!!  Mason came and just had a blast watching the game and being passed around by everyone in the stands.  He’s such a happy baby and his little smile just melts my heart.  Love him.

Today I had lunch with Brooks and dinner with Mason.  It was the perfect day.

Coach Joseph(s)

Last week was our bye week and we were able to sneak out of the fieldhouse and off to Austin for Jeff’s game.  Coach Joseph and Julie made the trip with us, and we met up with Grandy and Mimi (Jeff’s grandparents) at the stadium.  That makes 4 Coach Joseph’s (Grandy, Gary, Jeff and Julie) in one stadium!  I was really excited that Matt was able to come to Austin with us.  I can’t remember the last football game we’ve been to where Matt wasn’t either coaching or scouting.  It was nice to sit next to him and just watch the game.

Westlake played A&M Consolidated and WON 39-29!  Go Chaps!

Shelly and Phig’s wedding

A little over a week ago we headed up 71 to Austin for our friend’s, Shelly and Phig’s wedding!  We have been waiting for this day for a very long time and it did not disappoint!

Shelly and Phig got married at Kindred Oaks, and although it was 10,000 degrees outside, it was a beautiful venue and PERFECT for Shelly and Phig.  It was exactly what I had in mind when I pictured their wedding.
