WHOOP!

The Katy Tigers had a really great game on Saturday and I fully plan on blogging about that, but I have to take a minute to congratulate the Aggies!!  WHOOP!  A&M beat top 10 ranked Nebraska last night 9-6.  It wasn’t pretty, but they don’t give you points for beauty in football.  The Aggies also set a record for most student tickets pulled.  Find the official story on the game here.

A friend linked this video on facebook and it just gives me chills! I really wish we could have been at Kyle Field for this one!

The Ags moved up to #17 in the polls which is GREAT!  Hopefully this is just the first step in a long string of A&M wins!

Before the morning

I’ve heard this song so many times on the radio in recently weeks and finally used my Shazam app to figure out the artist, Josh Wilson.  These lyrics really spoke to me and I think they can be applied to so many chapters in our book of life.  Enjoy!

Do you wonder why you have to,
feel the things that hurt you,
if there's a God who loves you,
where is He now?
Maybe, there are things you can't see
and all those things are happening
to bring a better ending
some day, some how, you'll see, you'll see.

Would dare you, would you dare, to believe,
that you still have a reason to sing,
'cause the pain you've been feeling,
can't compare to the joy that's coming.
So hold on, you got to wait for the light
press on, just fight the good fight
because the pain you've been feeling,
it's just the dark before the morning.

My friend, you know how this all ends
and you know where you're going,
you just don't know how you get there
so say a prayer
and hold on, cause there's good who love God,
life is not a snapshot, it might take a little time,
but you'll see the bigger picture.

Would dare you, would you dare, to believe,
that you still have a reason to sing,
'cause the pain you've been feeling,
can't compare to the joy that's coming.
So hold on, you got to wait for the light
press on, just fight the good fight
because the pain you've been feeling,
it's just the dark before the morning.

Once you feel the way of glory,
all your pain will fade to memory
once you feel the way of glory,
all your pain will fade to memory
memory, memory, yeah.

Would dare you, would you dare, to believe,
that you still have a reason to sing,
'cause the pain you've been feeling,
can't compare to the joy that's coming.

Would dare you, would you dare, to believe,
that you still have a reason to sing,
'cause the pain you've been feeling,
can't compare to the joy that's coming.

Com'n, you got to wait for the light
press on, just fight the good fight
because the pain you've been feeling,
it's just the hurt before the healing
the pain you've been feeling,
just the dark before the morning
before the morning, yeah, yeah
before the morning

Bi-District games

This weekend was only 1/2 good.  Friday we ventured up to Round Rock for Jeff’s game versus Round Rock Stoney Point.  RRPS is currently #3 in the state so it was a HUGE game and a must win for the Chaperral’s.

Round Rock ISD has one of the nicest stadiums I’ve ever been too.  It was far, but I would gladly play there again.

*Side note- WHS has the MOST cheerleaders I’ve ever seen!  They bring 3 squads to their games: freshman, JV and Varsity.  Friday night they had 70 cheerleaders on the sidelines!!!!  CrAzY!!!

The Chaperral’s lost a hard-fought game to the RRSP Tigers.  It’s unfortunate that WHS had to go up against the #3 team in the FIRST round of the playoffs.  At least Jeff doesn’t have to work 6 weeks for free now!

After the game there was the CUTEST little Tiger on the field!  I am totally dressing up my kid like that for Katy games one day!

Saturday the Katy Tigers lined up against the Bellaire Cardinals for the Bi-District Championship.  The Tigers won 41-6!!!  This week we face Cy Fair for the Area Championship.

Every year for Veteran’s Day the band and brigade have a special halftime performance to honor the men and women who have served in the armed forces.  I always enjoy seeing my dad get to stand when they recognize the Marine  Corps members.

Katy vs Cinco Ranch- District Showdown

The battle for the District 19-5A title again came down to Katy and Cinco Ranch.  It all started on Thursday night when the freshmen teams Matt coaches lined up against the cougars.  It was REALLY cold all week which just made everything more exciting!

You can see from the scoreboard in the last picture that they won!!  District champs!

Friday I headed up to the high school at the end of the day for the pep rally.  We had a great run thru, Matt’s DB’s got to talk, and a great “dance off” between the Cinco boys, Katy teachers and Katy the Tiger.

“Welcome to the Red Sea. You’re gonna sink-ohhh”

Saturday we got to the stadium SUPER early and it was still in the 40’s outside.  There were at least 3 thousand people lined up waiting for the gates to open; I wish I had gotten a picture of the line!  It was insane!

The stadium was absolutely PACKED!  There were people and signs everywhere and I was able to get some of the signs on the Cinco side.

“Maroon, the classy form of red” and “BTHOK” and “Pooh on the Tiggers”

Katy vs Cinco 036

“Go Cinco” and “Katy who? The one point wonder”

Katy vs Cinco 037

“We love our men in maroon” and “To heck with the red school”

“We’ve done it once, we’ll do it again”

Both teams were ranked in the top 5 in the state so it was supposed to be very competitive and suspenseful.  Turns out, either Katy is waaaaay better or Cinco is waaaaaay worse than the critics thought.  The score at the half was 42-3 Katy and the game ended 56-3.  Whoo hoo!!  Defense dominated, offense dominated, special teams dominated.  KATY TIGERS DISTRICT CHAMPS!

My favorite picture from the entire day came from the Chronicle website.  At the end of the game the boys soaked Coach Joseph with Gatorade and the paper got the PERFECT shot!

Visiting Emily and Ella

A few weeks ago (I’m way behind on blogging!) I took a trip up 45 to see my favorites….Emily and Ella!!!  We had a grand ole time eating, watching Ella learn to walk, pumpkin patching, and crafting planning to craft.  I can’t believe how big Ella has gotten since the last time I saw her

Oh, and the little one just celebrated her first birthday!!  WOW!  Happy birthday, Ella Caroline!

2000 Katy Tiger Reunion

2 weeks ago at our game against Memorial the members of the 2000 Katy Tiger football team got together for a reunion of sorts.  This being the 10 year anniversary of that state title run, it was fitting.  Matt and I were juniors that year and since Matt was a player and a current coach we had double the pleasure of being there!

After the game we held a dinner at the school for all the players and their families.  It was so good to see everyone again and hear what everyone is up to.  I’m waiting on some more pictures from the post-game festivities and will post those later.

This weekend is the BIG GAME against Cinco Ranch.  We are both undefeated at this point and both vying for the district championship.  Supposedly, the tickets are already sold out and they are expecting up to 15,000 people at the game.  That is CrAzY!!!

Click here to read up a little more on the game.

GO TIGERS!!!
