On my nightstand: Heaven is for Real

I’ve seen this book recommended several times on different blogs I read, so when I decided to put down The Lucky One (sorry Nicholas Sparks) I decided to give Heaven is for Real a try.  I’m glad I did!  It seriously took my breath away and gave me goose bumps throughout the entire book.  It is told my Todd Burpo, a preacher in Nebraska, about his son’s experience “going to heaven.”  It only took me about 3 nights to get through- very quick read for those of you who have an hour or so to kill.

A royal affair

I’ve had a lot of time to lay on the couch and watch TV over the past few days as I recover from my laparoscopy (procedure went well…you will never know how much I appreciate your thoughts and prayers.)  Lucky for me I had PLENTY to catch up on when I finally awoke from my blurry, hydrocodone-induced slumber Friday afternoon.  I’ve spent more time that I’m willing to admit openly on the internet watching coverage of William and Kate’s wedding.  Or shall I say, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.  Don’t you just LOVE them?!?

God Bless whoever invented the DVR.  Beginning Friday afternoon my mom and I were able to start at the beginning watching all the VIP’s arrive, scrutinize all the hats and fashion (I’m looking at you, Eugenie and Beatrice), and eagerly anticipate the reveal of “The Dress.”  And boy, were we pleased!  I L-O-V-E-D the dress.  Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen hit one out of the park on this one.  I only wish I was engaged to be married so I could wear the same thing!

I’m not even ashamed to admit that after all the footage was over I watched the replay of “William and Kate” on Lifetime.  It was cheesy- exactly what you expect from a Lifetime movie.  And exactly what I needed on this royal weekend.
