A football update

I haven’t blogged recently, and was reprimanded for only blogging about football, so I’m consolidating all of the recent games into one post.  Here we go!

Bi-District Champs: Katy 49, Stratford 14

Our first playoff game this year was a first for the Tigers, we wore black!  That’s right, your red and white Katy Tigers wore black.  Nike has been trying to get us to try something new for the past 2 seasons but Coach Joseph always stuck with tradition, but for our 11th game at Rhodes in one season he decided we needed something different….BLACK!  It was a big secret, not even the players knew until they were finished warming up at the stadium and came back into the locker room before the game started.  They were thrilled and as you can see, it showed in the score!

Area Champs: Katy 45, Atascocita 7

Our first non-Rhodes game of the year was at our home-away-from-home, Tully Stadium against the Atascocita Eagles from Humble.  It was our first meeting and I think Atascocita hopes it was our last!  We won 45 to 7 and dominated every aspect of the game.  It was cold and rainy so I didn’t get too many photos.  And we went back to our normal red and white!

Regional Semi-Final Champs: Katy 37, LaPorte 3

Our second game at Tully Stadium faced us up against the bulldogs from LaPorte.  Matty was really worried about this one and up until halftime so was I.  But our wonderful coaching staff made the needed adjustments and we came out clicking on all cylinders the second half.  The Tigers were victorious and send the bulldogs packing the second year in a row.

There are possibly 3 weeks left of football so please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we maneuver our way through the post season.  We will be facing Clear Springs this Saturday at Tully so be thinking of us around 1pm.

In other football news the Chaparrals from Austin Westlake, Jeff’s team, is still running in the postseason.  The Chaps have beaten San Antonio Madison, Converse Judson and Harlingen and will face San Antonio Clarke this weekend.  Go Chaps!
