One Month!

Monkey,
You are ONE MONTH old today! How is that even possible? This month together seemed to fly by even though our days are only filled with sleeping, nursing and rocking you.  I feel like I can barely remember being at the hospital with you, or even being pregnant! This has been the most wonderful, fulfilling and amazing month of our lives!

You should know how much you have changed Momma and Daddy's lives.  I know we had a life together before you, but the life we have now just doesn't even compare.  We love you so much! Everyday I love you more and more; I didn't know my heart could love so fully and completely.  We are so blessed that our Heavenly Father chose us as your parents for your time here on Earth.  He could not have given us a more perfect baby.

You have such a sweet little temperament.  You still sleep hours upon hours every day, but we might be working our way towards a schedule in the near future.  You typically nurse every 3 hours during the day and every 4 hours at night, with a growth spurt happening this last week.  Between nursing, burping and a diaper change (or two) our nursing sessions still take right about an hour each time.  We typically get up for the day after our 9am session and you sometimes stay awake until you are ready to eat again at noon.  You take another really long nap after nursing at noon and sometimes stay awake after your 3pm feeding.  We try and keep you awake after you nurse at 6pm and most nights you make it until 8:30pm before going back to sleep.  After nursing you at 10pm we still double swaddle you and you don't make a peep at night.  You are sleeping in the bassinet in our room and do great at night going right back to sleep after you nurse.  I absolutely love nursing you and don't mind getting up in the middle of the night at all.  It's our special time together and I definitely want to try and nurse you as long as possible.

You definitely are on your way to being a spoiled little baby.  You absolutely love to be held and if you are ever cranky or having trouble falling asleep we can put you on our chest and rock you and you instantly calm down and fall asleep.  You do a lot of cooing and grunting when you are in your bassinet or cradle but are silent when being held.  Everything we have read or heard from Dr K says you can't spoil a baby, so we are soaking up this time where we can just hold and rock you all day and night.

You are ambivalent about bath time, pacifiers and diaper changes.  I can't tell that you really enjoy being in the bath, but you don't cry so I assume you are content.  You still will only take a pacifier randomly, mainly at night and only the MAM brand.  When you do go down with a pacifier in you tend to "talk" to us more.  I think you would prefer to never have your diaper changed, but you are much better now about not crying while we change you.  At the beginning on the month you thought getting your diaper changed was the most awful thing, but now you just coo and grunt until it's over.

Your Daddy and I just die laughing at all the tooting you do! It's really loud and almost constant while you are nursing and just the funniest thing! We can't believe those big noises come out of such a small baby!

Since Momma has been at home so much over the past 4 months we have really started to try and get out as much as we can.  Momma still can't really pick you up while you are in your carrier, so we spend a lot of time in the Baby K'tan wrap while we are out.  We've been to Target, HEB, Willie's, Los Cucos, Victor's, Katy Mills, and Brammer's, as well as both grandparents houses and Uncle Robby and Aunt Stephanie's.  Momma is going to try and start walking everyday with Aunt Stephanie and Mason at the mall in the A/C.

We are completely in LOVE and can't wait to see how you grow over the next month!
