After a great Thanksgiving on Thursday we headed to Reliant on Friday for our second playoff game. We faced the Langham Creek Lobos for the Area Championship and WON 49-0! Our first shut-out of the season! Way to go, defense!!
Matt was soooo nervous about this game all week- more nervous than usual. (Matt would be nervous if we played Katy Elementary, but I've only seen him this nervous a handful of times.) Katy came out and scored 28 points in the first quarter and I'm pretty sure he calmed down after that. Katy couldn't do anything wrong on Friday- truly the perfect game. So proud of our Tigers, especially the defense!!
Carter had a great time- slept most of the first half and all smiles the second half. Even napped most of the way home!! I think the next time he is having trouble napping I'm just going to blast noise from the game in his room because apparently he is happiest in a loud stadium. Great news for us since we spend so much time at football games!
Next up, LaPorte on Saturday at Reliant. Two down...4 to go!

Thanksgiving 2012
For most families Thanksgiving means turkey, tons of food and time with family but for us it always means FOOTBALL! Since Matt has been coaching we have never had a Thanksgiving where he has not been at practice, and we are oh-so thankful to be working on Thanksgiving. Working on Thanksgiving means we are in the playoffs and I have one happy husband. I never want to have a "true" holiday on Thanksgiving. :)
Matt started the morning at school early so they could finish early and go home to eat, eat, eat. Matt's family always spends Thanksgiving in Louisiana and since he is always working we always spend Thanksgiving with my family. I'm so thankful we don't have to do any traveling during this holiday! We headed over to my parents house around noon with our list- tater tot casserole, mac-n-cheese, rolls and dessert, only I forgot the rolls in the freezer at home. Ugh! One quick trip later and it was time to eat!
Brooks loves to look at pictures on my camera so I taught her how to take some pictures. She took a couple good ones! She was so proud of herself :)
We got some great pictures of Brooxie Kate and Carter in their matching football outfits. Brooks' has cheerleaders on it and Carter's has football players. Matt hates the smocked outfits I put Carter in (he doesn't even see 90% of them) but approved since it had football players on it, lol!
Jeff came in town for the afternoon so soon after lunch we headed over to the Joseph's to see Jeff. Jeff's uncle is a great photog and got some cute pictures of Carter while we were there. Of course, he did have a great subject to shoot :) Matt and Coach Joseph had to be back at the school at 5pm for practice/walk through so we did not stay too long.
I can't help but think of Thanksgiving last year when we told our grandparents and close friends that we were pregnant. Our immediate families already knew but telling everyone else really made it seem "real" in a way. I am so thankful for our families and everything they have done for us over the past year- taking care of me while on bed rest, taking care of our preemie and loving on Carter so much...what did we do to deserve all of this love?? And the word thankful doesn't seem to come close to describing how I feel about my little baby boy. Undeserving. Blown away. Blessed. Loved.
Love this baby. And yes, very thankful.

Thankful
I am thankful for our Heavenly Father, whose blessings I don't deserve but will eternally be grateful for
I am thankful for my wonderful husband who is my rock
I am thankful for this little turkey who lights up my life
I am thankful for the sweetest pup on the planet who keeps my legs warm at night and keeps such good watch over baby
I am thankful for our loving families, especially for the love (and spoiling!) they have shown our son
I am thankful for best friends that I can call in the middle of the night or for no reason at all
I am thankful for the cutest niece and nephew(s) there ever were
And last but most certainly not least, I'm thankful for Diet Coke for making me pleasant to be around :)

Katy vs Westbury: Bi-District
Last Thursday (ugh) night Katy played Westbury HS for the Bi-District Championship. Word from Coach is that grades came out on Friday and so WHS wanted to get the game in on Thursday before the ineligibility bug bit on Friday.
It was cold Thursday night and the game was played in the...ahem...ghetto, so Monkey stayed home with Nana. I didn't have to twist Nana's arm too hard to get her to miss the game :) Honestly, she had to convince me not to bring Carter- I still think he would have been okay. Cool weather = snuggle time!
To say Katy dominated would be an understatement. We won 77-7...a new scoring record for KHS! Every single player on the playoff roster played, including all the move-ups, some of which were freshmen!! Our 5th string running back, also a freshmen, scored a touchdown even!
I have mixed feelings about blowout games like this. It's great to see all our boys play, especially those who play on the scout team and put forth 110% all the time and don't see a lot of field time. Matt also moves from the press box to the field when the score gets out of control so I can actually watch him coach and call the defense. On the other hand, I hate seeing another team lose by 70 points. Ouch...you know that has to hurt.
Next up...Katy vs Langham Creek on Friday at Reliant. One down, 5 to go!

Sara's Couples Shower
This past weekend we loaded up and headed to Louisiana for Sara's first wedding shower! Randy's family threw the shower at their house in Marksville so we were able to stay with Poppa in Granny in Pine Prairie.
Mason was soooo good on the way there- just loved watching Elmo on repeat. Carter...not so much. I'd say he spent about 1/4 of the time sleeping, 1/4 of the time happy, and 1/2 of the time screaming. Poor Nana, I think she was about to crawl in the backseat and snuggle our little guy until he stopped crying, lol. He just hates being in his carseat that long and I don't blame him.
Once we arrived in PP he took a good nap with Granny while I got dressed. It had been way too long since Granny got to love on our little one so I know she cherished that time with him. It's so sweet seeing Carter with all of our family- they truly love him to pieces and I love watching others love on my baby boy :)
The shower was so nice...Sara sure does have one great mother-in-law (to be). They served gumbo for dinner which was delish, but the best part was all the dips and appetizers! Sara and I kept bumping into each other at the appetizer table, lol! And they had some pretty cupcakes too!
We were able to get some good pics while we were there...so sad Matt wasn't in them since he stayed in Katy to work. We will definitely have to get some more pictures at Christmas when we go back.
*Sidenote*
At the shower we were able to watch the Aggies BTHO Alabama! I don't think anyone saw that coming but I sure am glad we came out on top!! Matt and I were texting all night and I know he was at home jumping all over the couches and screaming at the TV the entire time. And did I mention his obsession with JFF? Boy is obsessed! I saw on Facebook that 10 years ago the same weekend the unranked Aggies beat #1 Oklahoma with a freshman quarterback. It just so happens that Matt, Laura and I were at that game and witnessed Reggie McNeal lose his redshirt to take the field and beat OU. It was absolutely crazy in College Station that weekend as I'm sure it was this past weekend. I love my Aggies and I'm so glad they are having such a great season this year!
*End Sidenote*
Sara and Randy got some good gifts...I always loved this part of wedding planning. :) Although, if I were going through it all again right now I'm sure I would have added completely different stuff to my registry than what I had on there 5 years ago. Isn't it funny how our taste changes in such a short period of time?
When I was going to put baby to bed I realized he had the mother of all blowouts. I ran into the living room to get Nana to help me and I'm so glad I did because it took the both of us to get him cleaned up. We ended up putting him in the sink and just bathing him- there was no other way to do it. Thank goodness it didn't get on anyone else because he was being passed around right before I discovered the blowout and I would have died if someone else bared the brunt of that diaper. Oh my.
Before we left on Sunday we had some time to play on the tractor and 4-wheeler and swing on the swings Poppa built. I can't wait until the boys are older- they are going to have so much fun going to Poppa and Granny's.
The good news is that Carter was much better behaved on the way home from Louisiana. He cried from Lake Charles to Orange when he was hungry and never made another peep after that, thank goodness.
Congrats, Sara and Randy! Can't wait until March!
