Today is a BIG day! Our Aggies will play the LSU Tigers tonight in the Cotton Bowl and Matt and I couldn’t be more excited for many reasons:
1) Fresh off our 4 years at KHS where Katy only lost 4 games (yes…4. Sick, isn’t it?) we went to A&M and watched the Aggies lose almost. every. single. game. It was heartbreaking, and something we were not used to at the time. I’m so jealous that these kids who are currently in college get to experience a completely different A&M team, but I am also so proud for our Alma Mater. Having a team nationally ranked that shares a part of the Big VII south championship and plays in BCS bowl games is HUGE for our school.
2) Most of Matt’s family cheers for LSU, including our SIL Stephanie, who is an alum. It is fun for the family to jib-jab at each other. Plus, the winner gets bragging rights for the next year!
3) The first two years Matt was coaching at Katy he had the pleasure of teaching these two how to play the game:

Matt has kept in touch with both Trent and T-Fred and I can’t tell you how much it warms my heart to see these two on the field week after week. Neither had planned to go to college. Neither had money to go to college. T-Fred basically raised himself. Both signed with Texas A&M late in their senior year, a year after Sherman took over as head coach and continued the Aggie tradition of losing another season. Trent started as a true freshman and was named Big VII Defensive Player of the Week on more than one occasion his freshman year. Slowly things have turned around for the Ag’s and these boys have lead the defensive push. The icing on the cake would be for either of them to score a defensive touchdown tonight during the game. You can bet I will be crying tears of joys for these boys tonight when they take the field. In addition to Trent and T-Fred, two more Katy boys, Shep Klinke and Don Bishop, will also be suiting up for the Ag’s.
Go Trent. Go Terrence. Gig ‘Em Aggies. BTHO LSU.
