So off we went to the Prudential building to get our tickets for the Boston Duck Tour. To get there we walked, and walked, and walked, and walked some more. It was worth our while though as we not only walked off our breakfast, but we also got a chance to see Trinity Church, Boston Public Library, and the largest Apple store in the United States.
Inside the Prudential building we found the kiosk for our tour and we ended up having over an hour to wait for our tour. Lucky for us we were in the middle of a mall so we were able to get in some shopping and people-watch in the food court.
Here is what the Duckmobiles look like.
They are actually DUKW's that were used on the beaches at Normandy during WWII, hence the name "Duck Tours." DUKW's can drive on land or float on water so we were able to go directly from the street into the water. The tour took us all over Boston, on the Charles River and through parts of Charlestown. Here are some of the pictures I took during the tour.
A portion of the Berlin wall.
Where the Declaration of Independence was read for the first time.
The original Cheers location.
After our duck tour we headed back to Faneuil Hall for more shopping. On the way we stopped at a little pub to get some clam chowder. I had never had chowder before and I really liked it.
We also made our way to Mike's Pastry store, a famous bakery in the North End. There they had every cake, pie, cookie, canoli, gelato or sweet you could think of. I was in heaven! Mom got tirimisu and I got a PB cookie and a peanut butter fudge brownie. Yum!
Tomorrow we are off to Newport, RI. Keep your fingers crossed that we can navigate through Boston to Newport on our own!
