Whitney Elizabeth “Libby” Phelps, daughter of Tracy and Matt Phelps, one of my college roommates and sorority sisters. She was born one month early on Friday, January 29th after Tracy had some complications with her fluid levels. Libby had to spend some time in the NICU to get breathing on her own but both she and mom are doing great now. Libby came in a 6 pounds, 9 ounces and 19 1/4 inches.

Happy Birthday Shelly!
Thursday was our good friend, Shelly Grist’s, birthday. So Friday we all went out to celebrate downtown at Pete’s Piano Bar. A good time was had by all and I think Pete’s is definitely one of our new favorite places.

10 things…
10 things that have happened since my last post:
1) I’ve started working out thanks to THIS lady!
I bought Jillian Michael’s (from NBC’s “The Biggest Loser”) 30 Day Shred video from Target last week and have either done the video or run everyday! I’ve never been one to work out much, I would much rather dance or go to some sort of class, but she has made it pretty easy on me. Pray that I keep it up!
2) Sara, Stephanie and I have been taking Wilton’s cake decorating classes at our local Michael’s once a week. Class #1 produced this beauty:
3) Class # 2 produced these:
4) Our last class produced this:
We had soooo much fun and plan to take the other courses Michael’s has to offer soon.
5) The Astro’s came to KJH! As part of their community outreach some of the players came to talk to our kids about Accountability, Choices and Trust.
6) New Orleans for Missy’s bachelorette party! Not only is the city an absolute blast, but we were there the weekend the Saints played the Cardinals so it was PACKED! The Saints definitely have very dedicated fans and all of the ones we ran into were so nice. I will definitely be cheering on the Saints for the rest of the playoffs.
7) My mom, sister, grandmother and I have been planning a shower for our cousin’s upcoming wedding. Thanks to Ally for the oh-so-very-cute invites!
8) I’ve been asked to take over both the 7th and 8th grade cheer squads next year by myself. This is a HUGE undertaking as I currently split duties with another teacher, so my workload would basically double. Double the practice time, double the games, double the stress, double the CHEER MOMS!! Not sure I will be able to keep my sanity, but Jenny just got married and will be leaving at the end of the year to join her new hubby who is in the Army. I will dearly miss her but she has taught me well and hopefully I can get someone else in there with me eventually.
9) Matt and I have started throwing around ideas for possible vacations. We haven’t decided if it will be over Valentine’s weekend, spring break (for our anniversary) or this summer. Send any suggestions you have of great vacation spots our way!
10) I’ve been ignoring my blog. :( My apologies, I will be better.

Back to work
Some of my favorites from today:
“We have homework?!?!?!”
“Miss, are you having a boy or girl?” *please note that I am NOT pregnant!
“Lizet won’t be here today, she got deported.”
“Your classroom is boring without the Christmas decorations.”
“Can you turn the heat off?” “Can you turn the heat on?” “Can you turn the heat off?” and on, and on….
Oh, and I got 4 new students. 4!!!!!!!
